Original Adirondack Living Art &Woodburnings

After retiring and moving to the northermost Adirondacks in 2005 I began woodburning art as a hobby and found that capturing the scenes of natural woodlands and wildlife became my calling.  Every piece of wood has a different grain and pattern as well as knots and imperfections.  I utilize all of these characteristics when creating a new work, making it unique from any other.  I thoroughly enjoy the process of bringing wood to new life with an idyllic scene of Adirondack wilderness and wildlife.

Most of my pyrographic art is done on local cedar, although I also use hemlock, pine, basswood, and birch depending on the requirements of the scene.  In 2007 I began adding color to my woodburnings using an acrylic wash as well as different colored stains.  These piece were very well received and now most of my work is done with color.  It enhances and adds dimension to each new scene. 

I have recently begun creating personal, unique and customized art for private customers.  This work has been extremely rewarding because it allows me to bring each person's vision and creation to life for them.  If you have an idea for an Adirondack scene or customized piece of furniture I'd enjoy hearing from you about it.

Many of my works are displayed at Bald Mountain Rustics, located in the Rooster Comb Inn, Keene Valley, New York.  It is a wonderful Adirondack furniture and living center that resemebles a museum more than a store.  The next time you visit the Adirondacks take some time and stop in.
